Tresher Shark at the house reef top
Anybody who has ever dived the house reef at the Orca Dive Club in Soma Bay knows that it makes a fantastic dive just by itself. The corals are in mint condition and there is always something special going on with the marine life. Not to long ago there were two mantas hanging around performing elaborate dance shows for our guests. This week something even more spectacular was sighted. It was One of our Instructors and his student that went in for a dive around mid day and came out smiling from ear to ear. They had seen a thresher shark, Alopias pelagicus, something that normally only happens on the offshore islands like Brothers, Daedalus, Zabargad and Rocky or in the St. John’s area. We congratulate the lucky divers and hope the shark stays for some time so we all can see it.
